2026-2027 Parent & Family Engagement Plan

At Rhea Elementary, we believe families are a child's first and most important teachers. When families and schools work together, children are more successful. Our goal is to make sure every Rhea family feels welcomed, informed, and included in their child's education.

As a Title I school, Rhea provides families with opportunities throughout the year to learn more about what their children are learning, how they are progressing, and simple ways to support learning at home.

Staying Connected

Good communication is an important part of our partnership with families. Throughout the year, Rhea will share information through ParentSquare, student folders, newsletters, our website and social media, phone calls, conferences, and conversations with teachers and staff.

We also want communication to go both ways. Families are encouraged to ask questions, share concerns, offer suggestions, and let us know how we can better support their children.

Helping Families Support Learning

Because Rhea serves our youngest learners, much of our family engagement work focuses on helping children build a strong foundation in reading, language, and mathematics.

Families will have opportunities to learn about the skills their children are developing at school and easy ways to practice those skills at home. This may include helping families understand early reading skills such as letter sounds, decoding, fluency, vocabulary, and reading comprehension, as well as early math skills such as counting, number relationships, and problem solving.

Our goal is not to turn parents into teachers at home! Instead, we want to provide simple, practical ideas that families can naturally use while reading, talking, playing, and spending time together.

Learning and Having Fun Together

Throughout the year, Rhea will provide opportunities for families to come together for learning and fun. Family literacy activities and other school events will give families an opportunity to participate in their child's learning while also building relationships with teachers and other Rhea families.

Our Commitment to Rhea Families

At Rhea, family engagement isn't just about attending an event at school. It is about creating a true partnership between home and school.

We want our families to understand what their children are learning, know how their children are progressing, feel comfortable communicating with us, and know that their ideas and concerns matter.

We will review this plan each year with input from our families and use that feedback to make our family engagement efforts even stronger.

Together, Rhea staff and families can give every child a strong start and build the foundation for future success.
